SHOTOVER MOONLIGHT HALF MARATHON
The Shotover Moonlight - Half Marathon begins at picturesque Moke Lake near Queenstown and gently climbs along the main farm road before travelling along a historic water race for 2.5km, a steep descent into Moke Creek follows. After a number of low water creek crossings you complete a steady climb of 260m to take you high above the Moke and Moonlight Creeks.
You will then be rewarded with beautiful vistas up the Moonlight Valley towards Silverhorn and Mount Aurum in the distance. The course then travels along a section of the Moonlight Track before descending to some historic mining huts, before another steady climb up to the Sefferstown Aid station, and over and past historic Sefferstown, once the hub of the bustling gold mining community in the Moke and Moonlight Creeks, home to 3000 people in the late 1800s. From here your route blends with that of the marathon and 30km Adventure Run as you complete numerous crossings of Moke Creek (and negotiate a tunnel!), and a very gentle climb to the well deserved finish line at Moke Lake.
